  • Euro-MP Slams ‘New Labour’s Anti-Social Behaviour’
    February 26th 2006

South Wales Euro-MP Jill Evans highlighted New Labour’s ‘anti-social behaviour’ at Plaid Cymru’s Spring Conference over the weekend.

Speaking at the Halliwell Theatre, Carmarthen, the Vice President of Plaid Cymru told delegates:

“I feel very strongly about this. Where I live in the Rhondda, we suffer high levels of anti-social behaviour: the closure of Blaen-clydach and Blaen-llechau schools – that’s anti-social; the closure of Glyncornel Environmental Centre – that’s anti-social; the selling of public open spaces – that’s anti-social. Now they’re threatening our post offices and sixth forms as well. New Labour is engaged in the biggest destruction of communities since Wilson & Thatcher closed the pits”.

“It’s no wonder people are fed up with politicians. New Labour gives us all a bad name.

“But people in their communities are fighting back. Thousands of people across Wales are campaigning locally. Our job in Plaid Cymru is to inform and support these local campaigns against this anti-social government”.
