Plaid Cymru the Party of Wales Euro MP Jill Evans will visit the "Safety Zone" Open Day in Pontypridd (Friday, 28th September) to help raise awareness of community safety issues in Rhondda Cynon Taff.
Ms Evans, who is a member of the European Parliamentary Committee with responsibility for Public Health, will visit the exciting new interactive safety education centre based on the Treforest Trading Estate at 1.30pm where Cllr John Daniel, RCT Cabinet Member with responsibility for Community Safety and Transportation, will join her.
The all Wales MEP, who is leader of Plaid Cymru - The Party of Wales in the European Parliament, said:
"This project is the first of its kind in Wales and I congratulate Rhondda Cynon Taff Council on its success in leading the way on community safety.
"Having a dedicated centre designed to be a stimulus to safety education is very exciting. Providing advice, knowledge and training to a variety of age groups and community groups on how to make all our lives safer and less fearful will also encourage good citizenship and help improve the quality of life."
The Safety Zone is a multi-agency initiative, and has been funded by the National Assembly for Wales Children and Youth Partnership Fund and the South Wales Police Challenge Fund.
This project is the first of its kind in Wales and is a major contributor to the compliance of Section 17 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
