  • Plaid President supports local campaigner
    January 31st 2011

Plaid Cymru president, Jill Evans, was in Barry last weekend to support active local campaigner, Stephen Blakeman, as he aims to win the Dyfan ward by-election for the town council.

Ms Evans joined Stephen and Vale candidate, Dr Ian Johnson, in canvassing Highlight Park last Saturday.

    Ms Evans said:

“Stephen is an excellent candidate with a record of which he can be proud, after getting more than £900,000 of funding for flood prevention works in Barry and strengthening Barry Town Council’s objections to building at White Farm.

“When people think of politicians they often think about the promises they make which they then fail to deliver.

“In Steve’s case, though, he has already delivered – so think what a difference he could make if he was elected.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the strength of support for Steve when canvassing.

“People are fed up with negative politics and were very supportive of our positive campaign based around a well qualified local candidate.”

    Ends.
