On Holocaust Memorial Day, Plaid Cymru Deputy President Jill Evans MEP has urged people in Wales to not only recall the victims of the Holocaust, but also apply the lessons to events in today's world.
She said:
"We must remember all victims of genocide and learn from the horrors of the past. We commemorate the millions of Jews, political prisoners, homosexuals, gypsies, disabled people, and others who were victims of the Holocaust.
"Bigotry, racism and xenophobia fuel hatred.
"As the UN Secretary General has said, we must apply the lessons of the Holocaust to today's world. The theme for this year's Holocaust Memorial Day is 'Stand Up to Hatred'. By promoting tolerance in our daily lives we pay the greatest tribute to the victims of the past."
