Plaid Deputy President Jill Evans MEP and Party Leader Ieuan Wyn Jones AM, accompanied by former MEP Eurig Wyn, have paid a visit to Roath Farmers’ Market to highlight the party's commitment to promoting quality local food, and the importance of sustainable agriculture in Wales.
Jill Evans said:
"Promoting quality local food is a priority for us in terms of our European programme.
“Farmers’ markets are becoming more and more popular. Not only are they hugely beneficial to local communities and farmers, they are vital in combating climate change.
“We have successfully amended EU Regional Development Guidelines to call for more support for farmers markets and we're here today to emphasise our support for quality local food production and our commitment to building a sustainable future for Welsh agriculture."

The successful amendment tabled by Ms Evans reads:
"development in rural areas requires greater attention and support for the preservation of the natural and farmed
landscape, ecotourism, the production and use of renewable energy and local initiatives such as local food-quality
procurement schemes and local farmers' markets;"
