"The future success of the European Union depends on the skills and enthusiasm of young people in Wales."
That's the message of Jill Evans MEP who will be talking to pupils at Ysgol Glan Clwyd, St. Asaph, on Friday 24th September.
Jill will meet pupils on the European studies course to tell them about her work as a Member of the European Parliament and the importance of Wales within the European Union. She will be showing the DVD about a week in her life as an MEP filmed and edited by three young people from Wales.
"I am very excited about visiting Ysgol Glan Clwyd. Wales's future in Europe - and Europe's own future - lies in the hands of our young people in Wales. Young people want to travel more, to learn more languages and to know more about the world we live in. The European studies course helps them to do that.
"In the eleven years I have been in parliament I have welcomed countless young people to Brussels and Strasbourg to do work experience in my office or just to visit to see how the EU works. I am always enthused by their interest and proud of the impact they make as ambassadors for Wales. I will be asking the pupils on Friday to think about coming to Brussels and Strasbourg too.
"The European Union affects the everyday life of every one of us through laws on everything from recycling bottles to mobile phone roaming charges to food labelling. We will discuss the changes we can make, such as the campaign to make Welsh an official EU language and fighting climate change. We'll look particularly at their influence on politicians and how the European Parliament can improve communication with young people."
