Plaid Cymru MEP Jill Evans will be speaking at a meeting in Abergavenny this Saturday evening on the vital subject of climate change. The public meeting is organised by Friends of the Earth and will give members of the public a chance to quiz politicians about their thoughts on this issue.
Speaking before the meeting, Mrs Evans said:
"I'd like to thank Abergavenny and Crickhowell Friends of the Earth for organising this meeting and inviting me to speak. Dealing with climate change affects all of us and is one of the most important challenges facing our planet - events like Saturday's meeting help raise awareness.
"This is an issue I care about very much and I hope it's something on which we can work together across the political spectrum. We are already seeing the effects of climate in rising sea levels and extreme weather conditions. Unless we act soon to stop the environmental damage that causes climate change and to prepare for its worsening effects, then we will come to regret it.
"Whilst some might like to bury their heads in the sand, this is one issue that cannot be ignored and we have a duty to future generations to act before it's too late."
The meeting takes place at Trinity Church Hall in Abergavenny at 7.30pm on Saturday 16 September. Jill Evans is a Plaid Cymru MEP representing the whole of Wales in the European Parliament. She is also the Chair of CND Cymru.
