Jill Evans, Plaid Cymru the Party of Wales leader in the European Parliament, has visited a trailblazing garage in the Vale of Clwyd, the first in the area to offer conversions of petrol to LPG fuel.
Ms Evans, who represents the whole of Wales in the European Parliament, and Clwyd West parliamentary candidate Elfed Williams met Bob Jones of Clwyd Garage, Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd, near Rhuthun, when Mr Jones was able to demonstrate the finished product - a vehicle which had been converted from petrol driven to dual fuel. Local Plaid Cymru county councillor Glyn Jones was also an interested observer.
Jill Evans said:
"I gather from Bob Jones that there has been quite a healthy demand since he began offering the conversion service, and that once the costs of the conversion have been met, there are substantial savings on running costs.
"As a member of the European Parliament's Environment Committee, I was particularly interested to hear about the environmental benefits, and this is something I intend to discuss with my colleagues in the Greens / EFA Group in the European Parliament."
Elfed Williams praised Mr and Mrs Jones:
"I congratulate Clwyd Garage on their initiative in being the first in the area to make this service available, and it is heartening to see a village business making progress."
