Jill Evans MEP has today announced the winners of the Youth DVD competition. The competition, set for those between the ages of 16-18 years old asked groups to send in a DVD, a picture, a mobile phone picture- anything visual about something that is important to them in their local community. Jill received many entrants, all of which were of a high standard, judged by herself and Dewi Evans from the Pop Factory. The winning team will be travelling to Brussels next month with a Producer and a Director from the Pop Factory to film ‘A week in the life of Jill Evans MEP’- a DVD that Jill will then use as part of her presentations to schools and youth clubs across Wales.

Jill Evans, Plaid MEP said:
"The winning team are a group of 16 year old school students from Porth Community School in Rhondda- Matthew Dentus, Daniel Baker and Jessica Jenkins. The DVD outlines developments taking place in the area at the moment, and was filmed professionally and creatively. Congratulations to the team. All entries were of a high standard, and I hope that all groups will continue with their film- making ventures in the future."
She added:
"I am looking forward to working with the winning team when they come over to Brussels to film my work, and also when they film in Wales. We will be meeting with them soon to discuss their ideas for the DVD, so that they can create a film that will encourage young people to become part of the political process. Their involvement will ensure that we produce a DVD that will centre on the issues that matter to young people."
Matthew Dentus, a member of the winning team from Porth Community School said of his success:
"I was in total shock when we were told that we had won the competition. I couldn’t believe that we’d won! One of my main interests is filming and editing so I am over the moon that we are creating this DVD for Jill Evans. It’s a once in a lifetime experience, and a great reward after completing our GCSE’s!"
