The Ospreys Supporters Choir will be raising the roof at the European Parliament this week (Tuesday 13th April)
with renditions of Welsh classics such as Calon Lān, Cwm Rhondda and Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau.
The event - hosted by Plaid MEP Jill Evans - will be an opportunity to promote Welsh music, culture and sport in the institutions of the European Union.
The successful Welsh choir was formed by supporters of the Ospreys Rugby Team to compete in a Welsh television competition a few years ago. Since then they've gone from strength to strength, appearing in numerous concerts and competitions and raising money for charity. The choir are also due to give a performance in Antwerp and at Leuven Rugby Club during their visit.
Plaid MEP Jill Evans said:
"I'm delighted that the Ospreys Choir have accepted my invitation to sing at the European Parliament and we're all very much looking forward to the event. We regularly see cultural performances from across Europe in the Parliament building but it's been a few years since we heard some Welsh music being performed.
"This will be a very good opportunity to raise Wales's profile in Europe, and to promote our music, culture and sport in the institutions of the European Union."
Wynne Jones from the Ospreys Supporters Choir said:
"We are very much looking forward to singing at the European Parliament, particularly at an event celebrating Welsh culture. This choir goes from strength to strength and going to Brussels will be another excellent experience for us. We would like to thank Jill Evans MEP for the invitation to sing, and hope the sounds of Welsh songs will ring around the parliament."
Ends.
