  • Plaid MEP to embark on summer tour of agricultural shows
    July 19th 2007

Plaid Cymru MEP Jill Evans is to embark on a tour of some of the major agricultural shows across Wales this summer. The MEP will be on hand to meet visitors and people involved in the agricultural industry, to answer their questions about her work and listen to their views.

In the European Parliament she is a member of the Environment Committee which regularly deals with issues important to rural Wales and Welsh agriculture such as organic farming, GMOs, and measures to cut down on pollution. Ms Evans is also Plaid Cymru's spokesperson on international issues.

Ms Evans will be on hand to meet people at the following shows:

Royal Welsh Show - Builth Wells - 24/25 July

    Pembrokeshire Show - 14 August

    Anglesey Show - 15 August

Denbighshire and Flintshire Show - 16 August

Speaking ahead of the tour, the Plaid Cymru MEP said:

"I enjoy visiting agricultural shows every summer and I am looking forward to meeting as many people as possible and listening to what they have to say. The work of the European Parliament can have a real impact on life in rural Wales - whether people are directly engaged in farming or not.

"I'm very keen to hear people's views about developments in Wales - this will help me ensure that the views of the people of Wales continue to be heard at EU level. I will be available at the Plaid Cymru stand at the Royal Welsh, and the Pembrokeshire, Anglesey and Denbighshire and Flintshire shows and would be more than happy for people to come along for a chat."
