  • Jill Evans MEP Monthly Report
    February 2016

  • I launched Plaid Cymru’s campaign to remain in the European Union: Wales in Europe.

  • In the Parliament’s plenary session in February I called again on the UK government to respect the votes of the people of Wales and demanded that Wales should be given a ‘red card’.

  • I spoke on the EU referendum at a conference in Dundalk, Ireland, organised by the Centre for Cross-Border Studies

  • I attended a meeting with former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis in the House of Commons to discuss the referendum and his DieM2025 movement for European democracy

  • I visited the "Jungle" camp in Calais with Liz Saville Roberts and Vicky Moller to meet the refugees and discuss how we can support them.

  • I organised a Plaid Cymru delegation to Brussels for meetings with Commission officials to discuss the steel crisis and its effect on Wales. Bethan Jenkins AM and Adam Price took part.

  • I supported an application from Swansea University for funding under the Marie Curie Horizon 2020 scheme for research into Alzheimer’s.

  • I took part in the ‘Get Caught Reading’ exhibition in the parliament. A great opportunity to support reading and the Welsh books industry in Brussels.

  • I sponsored Bryncethin Youth Rugby Club, with Derek Vaughan MEP, on their visit to the European Parliament in Brussels.

  • Ana Ribeiro from Wrexham and Daniel Roberts from Conwy each spent a week’s work experience in my office in Brussels.
